Hi Gary... I like your image. It isn't often that I comment on the same image twice but I really love this one. You have inspired me to look for this feature the next time I'm in The Valley of Fire. Beautifully photographed...Cheers Bob fv

Gary Warnimont replied:

Thank you for the kind comments,I had a 35 year career as an advertising and catalog photographer.Just jumping into trying to be landscape travel photographer has been a challenge.I guess all those years of laughing at folks from other disciplines trying to shoot commercial now makes more sense.Frequently I fail to get the shot when it comes to landscapes and travel photography. But I loved it anyway.

Thank you for featuring this image in Desert Southwest. Valley of Fire is a great place for folks who are not super rock climber / mountaineering types to get some nice red rock shots.Very accessible to almost everyone,It is very hot in the summer.

Beautiful! Love the framing in the composition. f/l

Gary Warnimont replied:

Thanks Robin. This park is easily accessible by most people. No super hiker rock climber status required.

Superb framing! This is one of my favorite places.

Gary Warnimont replied:

Gary, wonderful composition and lighting. Great details too. A treat to watch. L/F

Gary Warnimont replied:

thank you Sunil, yes we had some great rock formations and desert in this part of the US. The caravans of ORV' are far less romantic than the camels and riders I have seen on your site, I'm afraid.

Artist's Description

The Valley of Fire State Park is a great little day trip and "Escape from Las Vegas". The park is 50 miles NE of downtown. It is a Whitman's sampler of the Colorado Plateau Geology. A couple of little arches, creature like sandstone monuments, colorful clay hills, arroyos, canyons,a desert museum and these little look throughs that I love to shot. All this and more in a small compact little park you can see in a day. I recommend the back road along the shore of Lake Meade on your way home. Check your A/C first because this place is adeptly named. In the summer it is hellishly hot.

About Gary Warnimont

Gary Warnimont

Hi my name is Gary Warnimont. I can't remember when I wasn't fascinated by photographs. I remember getting to use my dad's Polaroid Land 1 Camera . Grew up went to college, studied photography and art. Went to work as a catalog photographer. Still am a location advertising photographer. Asleep yet? I am posting my personal work on this site. It is about fun and boy hood vacation adventures. The documentation and restoration of roadside advertising folk art and museum artifacts is an on going project of mine. Hope you enjoy!!!
